At the LifeCourse Nexus, Designed for All is at the core of how we design and share our work. This means creating training, tools, and resources that are usable and meaningful for all people.
This work is grounded in the Charting the LifeCourse (CtLC) guiding principle: Focusing on All People.
We believe all people—regardless of age, ability, or role—should be considered in our vision, values, policies, and practices, and have access to the supports they need.
When we think about inclusive practices, we think about a broader view of accessibility.
We have always been committed to accessibility. Putting this principle into practice means we continue to learn, listen, and make improvements over time.
The LifeCourse Nexus uses person-centered practices that support real-life use across different communities, organizations, and systems. We develop and improve tools, training, and approaches through:
Our training and resources use practices like Universal Design for Learning to support accessibility, engagement, and different ways people learn. This includes advisory groups and opportunities for people with lived experience to help guide projects and decision-making. Additionally, our technical assistance also includes person-centered practices. We help organizations think about accessibility, culture, communication, and meaningful participation in their daily work and systems change efforts.
Culture and relationships are important to our work. We recognize that people, families, and communities have different experiences, values, strengths, and needs. The goal of the the LifCourse Nexus is to adapt and transcreate resources so they are culturally relevant, meaningful, and accessible across different communities.
We are taking a comprehensive approach to strengthening our Designed for All practices across our tools, website, and broader work.
